1,040 babies born in Uzbekistan on 1 January

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  By 5:00 PM on 1 January 2025, 1,040 babies were born in Uzbekistan, three fewer than on the same day in 2024, according to the press service of the Ministry of Health.

Of the newborns, 492 were boys and 548 were girls.

The highest number of births was recorded in Fergana region, with 154 babies.

It was followed by Kashkadarya region with 119 births, Tashkent city with 112, Samarkand region with 101, and Surkhandarya region, where 89 babies were born.

The lowest number of births was in Navoi region, with just 18 newborns.

Among the newborns, there were seven sets of multiples, including six pairs of twins and one set of triplets, totaling 15 babies.

All children are receiving medical care in full compliance with established standards.

During the holiday season, maternity hospital staff across the country have continued working as usual, despite ongoing celebrations. A total of 6,192 obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists, midwives, and nurses were on duty to provide necessary assistance.

For comparison, birth numbers on New Year’s Day in previous years were as follows: 2020: 1,111 babies, 2021: 1,086 babies, 2022: 1,448 babies, 2023: 1,312 babies and 2024: 1,043 babies.
