Vimpelcom intends to conduct the largest transaction in the history of the Russia telecommunications sector: the mobile operator has launched an offer to buy the shares of the fixed-line operator Golden Telecom. The transaction charge is to come to US$4 bln. However, the offer might be acknowledged non-market and rejected as, according to rumors related to the upcoming merger, Golden Telecom shares have surged in price.
Fintur Holding, the leading mobile communications company Turkcell and TeliaSonera’s joint venture, will invest US$152 million in Uzbekistan ’s GSM sector in 2007-2008.
