On Friday, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akira Amari will start his visit to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Brunei over 27 April - 5 May, senior METI officials said on Tuesday.
The culture ministers of the member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) -- Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan - meet in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Tuesday to discuss the situation in the field of culture and mutual moral and spiritual enrichment-related matters.

A top EU official welcomed Uzbekistan’s agreement to enter a human rights dialogue with the European Union as "a step forward" on Monday as the bloc studied plans for closer ties with energy-rich Central Asia.

On 20 April Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekunas paid an official visit to Uzbekistan, where he was received by President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbek Parliament Erkin Halilov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov.
On 19 April Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekunas during his first official visit to Kyrgyzstan together with President of Kyrgyz Republic Kurmanbek Bakiyev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ednan Karabayev discussed a wide scope of bilateral relations, multilateral and regional issues.
Foreign Minister of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekunas met the Speaker of Legislative Chamber (lower house) of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan Erkin Halilov on 20 April.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov has warned against attempts "to distort the essence of enlightened, peace-loving and tolerant Islam, to provoke hostility towards our sacred religion and relate it to international terrorism".
