Azerbaijani company to modernize three 110 kV substations in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Azerbaijani company AZENCO will be responsible for the modernization of three 110 kV substations in Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The joint-stock company "National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan," in cooperation with the World Bank, is implementing the investment project "Transformation of the Electric Power Industry and Sustainable Power Transmission."

The project aims to develop main electric networks and substations, implement digital technologies in the industry, and integrate renewable energy sources into the unified energy network.

As part of the project, the modernization and reconstruction of 22 substations with voltages ranging from 110 to 500 kV are planned across the country.

International tenders were conducted for the modernization and reconstruction of the 110 kV substations 2 A, Khazorasp, and Chinoz, located in Ferghana, Khorezm, and Tashkent regions.

As a result of the tender, the Azerbaijani company AZENCO was declared the winner. On 19 July 2024, an agreement was signed with the winning company for the implementation of the projects.

The complete modernization and reconstruction of these three substations will provide an additional capacity of approximately 100 MVA (megavolt-amperes), significantly enhancing the reliability of power supply for residents and industrial consumers in Ferghana, Khorezm, and Tashkent regions.
