Uzbekistan produces 36.84 billion kWh of electricity in first half of 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan saw a decrease in electricity generation from January to June 2024.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, 36.84 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the first half of the year, which is a 3.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

Heat energy production also declined by 5.1% during the same period, totaling 12.7 million Gcal.

Additionally, 49.24 million cubic meters of coal gasification gas was produced during the reporting period, which is a 3.1% decrease compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, 2 billion kWh of electricity was generated from renewable sources since the beginning of the year.

Currently, Uzbekistan operates 9 solar photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of 2.4 GW and one wind power plant, which provide "green" energy to 7 regions of the country.

As a result, 655.5 million cubic meters of natural gas have been saved and 860,700 tons of harmful gases have been prevented from being emitted into the atmosphere.
