The Special Representative of the President holds talks with the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Planning Political Affairs of Saudi Arabia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 November 2022, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held talks in Riyadh with Abdullah, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Planning Political Affairs - Head of the special group for Afghanistan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia bin Khalid bin Saud al Kabir.

During the conversation, the efforts of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia for the peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis, the speedy provision of humanitarian and other assistance to the country were discussed.

Abdullah bin Khalid bin Saud al-Kabir praised the practical steps taken by Uzbekistan in this direction, especially noting the successful holding at the end of July this year. in Tashkent of the international conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development".

The parties especially noted the importance of restoring the socio-economic infrastructure of Afghanistan, wider involvement of the country in regional integration processes.

The Saudi side, emphasizing the timeliness of the efforts of the Republic of Uzbekistan to implement the project on the construction of the Termez-Mazari-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway line in Afghanistan, expressed its full support for the implementation of this project.

The opinion was expressed that without the development of a consolidated position of the world community in relation to the new authorities of Afghanistan, as well as an increase in international humanitarian assistance, it would be impossible to resolve the acute socio-economic crisis in the country.

The parties expressed mutual interest in continuing consultations on the Afghan issue at the level of special representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
