An international training seminar was held within the framework of the World Bank project "Modernization of the National Innovation System of Uzbekistan"
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to modernize the national innovation system of Uzbekistan, increase the competitiveness of national products and services in the world market, the efficiency of diversifying the economy and the standard of living of the population, the World Bank project "Modernization of the national innovation system of Uzbekistan" is being implemented under the Ministry of Innovative Development.
On 17 August, an international training seminar was held for employees of the project implementation group and authorized departments of the ministry. Representatives of the World Bank provided information on the principles of financing grant projects, preparing and submitting applications for withdrawal of funds, preparing and auditing reports on expenditures made from grant funds. Information is also given on holding international tenders for listeners, explanations are given on the methods used in the procurement of goods.
In addition, the World Bank representatives provided detailed information on the financial management and control of international contracts based on the requirements of the World Bank and in accordance with national legislation.
The authors of 12 projects-winners of the 1st round of the program "Improving the quality of scientific research" of the project "Modernization of the national innovation system of Uzbekistan" also took part in the training.
It should be noted that 29 of the first 109 applications received for the 1st round of the “Improving the Quality of Scientific Research” competition were allowed to participate in pitching, of which 12 research teams were recognized as winners of the competition. A total of US$5 million has been awarded to these projects.
