Uzbekistan invited to upcoming Green Climate Fund Global Policy Dialogue Conference in September

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek diplomats held a meeting with the regional manager of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Salamat Yerejepov, Dunyo news agency reported.
The Green Climate Fund is the world’s largest climate fund mandated to support developing countries in raising and realizing their ambitions for nationally determined contributions towards reducing emissions and building climate resilience. GCF headquarters is located in Incheon.
At the meeting, the GCF representative informed about the second GCF Global Policy Dialogue Conference scheduled for 13-15 September in Incheon. The first GCF Global Policy Dialogue Conference was held on 19-23 August 2019, also in the same city.
The conference will bring together ministers, national coordinators of foreign countries, accredited organizations and GCF partners to provide a platform for dialogue and high-level agreement on investment plans on transforming long-term emission reduction and climate resilience strategies.
According to the interlocutor, the event will focus on the role of GCF in ensuring action on climate change and will provide an opportunity to promote country programs, share implementation experience and disseminate knowledge about operational tools, and strengthen the GCF partnership network. The conference program includes a plenary session with the participation of ministers and heads of accredited organizations, parallel thematic and sectoral sessions and bilateral meetings throughout the event.
To participate in this international conference, a letter of invitation from GCF was sent to the National Authorized Body of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation and priority projects for mobilizing GCF funds, including with the participation of other donor organizations, for the purpose of their joint implementation.
