US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs to visit Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The basis of the modern architecture of relations between Uzbekistan and the United States is mutual interest in building up cooperation not only in economic areas, but also in the context of education, healthcare, security, and culture.
During his last visit, US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu led the delegation at the First Meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue. The politician emphasized the strong support for the efforts of our country in carrying out large-scale reforms, the importance of promptly using the potential of mutual trade and attracting extra capital. The role of a special office to support US investments, opened by the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, was especially noted.
Donald Lu also welcomed the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to liberalize the economy, promote respect for human rights and the protection of fundamental freedoms, and develop democratic institutions and civil society, and stressed the increase in US assistance to support these reforms.
Against the backdrop of resolving a number of key issues, finding common ground in a number of areas in the spectrum of strengthening ties, the Strategic Partnership Dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States was called by the parties "a landmark event that strengthened a new era of strategic partnership between the two countries."
The agenda of the current visit of the US Assistant Secretary of State to Uzbekistan is also rich. During the meetings and negotiations, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries are expected to be considered - from the digital economy, energy and investment, to healthcare, culture and tourism development.
