UZEX: the price of sugar decreased by almost 30 percent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 March 2022, due to an increase in the volume of listings for open exchange trading on the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) by almost 50 percent on the part of seller enterprises, the daily average price for sugar of all categories decreased relative to the previous trading days by 14 percent, from 10,101.3 thousand soums to 8,735.8 thousand soums per ton. In general, over the past two trading days, the exchange price of sugar has decreased by almost 30 percent.
The reduction in sugar prices was achieved through the use of market measures, including in connection with an increase in the level of supply in the exchange segment of sugar.
In particular, on 24 March, 3,200 tons of sugar were put up for exchange trading, of which 2,874 tons or 90 percent were sold. At the same time, Khorazm Shakar LLC sold 1,600 tons of sugar through exchange trading and Angren Shakar LLC - 1,274 tons of sugar.
