Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A parliamentary delegation headed by the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddinjon Ismoilov met with the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi in Tehran.
The Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran thanked the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his sincere congratulations on his victory in the elections. During the meeting, it was noted that such high attention and recognition will serve as an important factor in bringing relations between our countries to a new level.
During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the consistent development of multilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Iran, the further deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation in trade, economic, social and cultural spheres.
As Ibrahim Raisi stressed, Iranian official circles fully support the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to further strengthen good-neighborly relations with the countries of the region based on the principles of mutual respect, friendship and brotherhood, as well as ensuring regional security.
Along with this, the President of Iran also highly appreciated the mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation between Tashkent and Tehran within the framework of international and regional organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
According to Raisi, the reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Uzbekistan have significantly increased the role of parliament in the public life of the country. In the future, inter-parliamentary relations will play an important role in further expanding and strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
During the dialogue, it was noted that it is worth focusing on issues related to the further development of Uzbek-Iranian relations, bringing economic cooperation to the level of the existing potential of the parties, in particular, raising inter-parliamentary ties to a new level.
