Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A press conference was held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dedicated to a series of resonant events that took place in the past weeks in the Tashkent Metro.
Representatives of the Tashkent Metro answered questions from media representatives. In particular, Oybek Khudoykulov, the head of the Tashkent Metro Unitary Enterprise, and the involved specialists of the capital metro, Boshtransloyiha JSC and the Kuprikkurilish Unitary Enterprise Trust. Greeting the participants of the press conference and thanking them for the opportunity to hold an open dialogue in a constructive format, O. Khudoykulov presented a short introductory report on the current activities of the metro, news in the field and long-term plans.
In particular, it was noted that in order to create favorable conditions for residents of remote and densely populated areas of Tashkent, new lines are being opened, new metro stations are being built. Currently, with the opening of new lines, passenger traffic is 300-320 thousand passengers per day. But a year ago, this figure was only 150 thousand, which is two times less. Only in the past, 2020, 14 new metro stations were commissioned in new, highly demanded directions.
When asked about overcrowded wagons during peak hours, it was noted that this is all due to the number of trains available, for which certain intervals are set for even running. With the commissioning of the Sergeli branch, the passenger traffic on the Chilanzar line increased sharply, because the population of the Sergeli district in recent years has increased sharply in view of the numerous new buildings. The metro management is taking all measures and possibilities to reduce the interval between trains during peak hours. Today, the total workload of the Tashkent metro on the Chilanzar line is 60%. The journalists were told that the solution to this issue is the purchase of new trains, which will arrive this year. As you know, in 2019, the metropolitan metro was provided with new modern trains manufactured by Metrovagonmash OJSC (Russia). They have proven themselves from the best side on the section of the circular line "Dustlik-2" - "Kuylyuk". Another 5 trains of this modification are planned to be delivered in August this year, and another 5 trains in December. The first five new trains will be sent to this line to unload the Chilanzar line. Experts also said that with the expansion of existing lines and the construction of new lines, it is planned to purchase 10 more trains in 2022.
The metro specialists, in terms of the technical plan, also explained the situation related to the damage to the contact rail bracket. A case associated with a small collision of two trains on 19 March. They denied rumors about an alleged collision of two metro trains at the Beruni station. They also drew attention to the importance of checking and rechecking information on official sources. Among the topical questions raised was the hacker attack on the clockwork. It was noted that in this direction they are working and taking all possible measures to protect information access not only to clock mechanisms, but also to other information and computerized displays at metro stations.
Journalists also received an answer to a question regarding the compliance of construction work with the project documentation. Designers noted that all construction work is carried out on the basis of certain standards and requirements, using special construction equipment, in compliance with safety rules. The whole process is controlled by the relevant specialists and the involved government agencies. It was also emphasized that, according to legislative acts, all construction work is being carried out in parallel with the development of design estimates, with a mandatory examination.
At the meeting, they also raised the issue of employment at new metro facilities. In particular, employment of young specialists. The question was asked how you can get a job in the subway. Responsible persons of the Tashkent metro voiced information on this important topic. It was emphasized that 980 additional jobs have been created since the beginning of the year, of which 267 people under the age of 30 were employed in the first quarter of this year. These are graduates of the technical school of railway transport and other interested specialists. Moreover, training continues for new metro stations under construction, for example, on the section of the circular line from the Kuylyuk market to the terminal station of the Sergeli branch.
Representatives of the media received answers to other questions of interest to them.
