Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 April 2021, the director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (NCHR) Akmal Saidov met with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss further directions of cooperation in the field of human rights.
The director of the NCHR presented information on the implementation of the National Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Human Rights, priority areas for the implementation of gender and youth policy.
The Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde welcomed Uzbekistan’s accession to the UN Human Rights Council and wished success in promoting human rights initiatives. The gender policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at enhancing the role and status of women in social and political construction, was also positively assessed by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibility of cooperation with the OSCE and bilateral cooperation, the implementation of joint projects of institutional development.
The guests were presented with publications prepared jointly by the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
