Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the State Duma (Duma) of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva discussed the development of relations between the two countries and proposed to intensify the joint work of specialized committees of the parliaments of the states. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva thanked Russia for the vaccine, and also noted that Uzbekistan respects how the Russian Federation coped with last year's crisis.
During the conversation, Viacheslav Volodin and Tanzila Narbaeva stressed the need to do everything possible to implement the agreements of the presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan.
“A lot depends on the dialogue. This dialogue is being conducted by our presidents. We must give them their due - much has been done precisely thanks to their understanding of the need to develop relations between our countries. As for the parliamentary dimension, we must definitely do everything to legislate the agreements reached by the presidents,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma believes that it is necessary to study the legislation concerning migrants coming to Russia. So, he noted, the issues of studying the Russian language are becoming top priority.
Tanzila Narbaeva said that learning Russian is important for Uzbekistan: “Last year, despite the pandemic, 35 Russian teachers arrived in Uzbekistan and worked in the regions of our country. This year - already 48". In addition, she thanked the Russian side for opening branches of Russian universities in Uzbekistan, as well as for what has been done for the citizens of Uzbekistan who are in Russia during the pandemic.
Viacheslav Volodin believes that relations between the two countries are developing dynamically, but much remains to be done. “So far, our specialized committees are not working enough, so it would be right for us to build relations at their level more actively,” he said.
The parties also agreed that Russian deputies will come as observers to the presidential elections in Uzbekistan this year, and Uzbeks will participate in observing the elections to the State Duma.
“We will be glad if representatives of the parliament of Uzbekistan come to observe the elections in our country,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
In this work, it is important to pay attention to the observance of the national legislation of the country where the elections are held, Vyacheslav Volodin is sure. “These approaches in our country are fundamentally different from other countries that come to observe. For our part, we proceed from the fact that countries have national legislation, and we respect it,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
He recalled that, for example, the United States does not comply with the standards of democracy and transparency of elections, while making claims to other countries in which elections are held much more competitively and fairly.
