Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 5 to 7 April, Sanofi took part in the international industrial exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan”. The event was attended by delegates from over 20 countries and over 100 exhibitors.
In 2020, healthcare in all countries of the world has entered the fight against the pandemic. The pressure has increased not only on the healthcare system, but also on the industry, providing the necessary demands to fight the epidemic. Within the framework of “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan”, Vitaly Bystryukov, Head of the General Medicine business unit for Central Asia and Belarus, Chairman of the Board of Sanofi Kazakhstan took part in the session "Industry for the healthcare system in the era of combating the pandemic" industrial sectors discussed issues of disease management in Uzbekistan.
The session was moderated by Kirill Vladimirovich Kai, Senior Vice President for Innovation at the Skolkovo Foundation. The focus of the discussion was on the implementation of a disease management system as a tool to reduce mortality, complications and the burden on the state budget.
“It is a great honor for Sanofi to take part in the discussion of topical issues in the health sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan, in particular, the importance of introducing a disease management program, which is dictated by the need for serious changes in the prevention and control of chronic non-communicable diseases in the country. The health management process requires significant resources of the health system: first of all, it concerns personnel. This problem is partially solved by itself when the emphasis of the healthcare system is shifted to the provision of preventive care, and not to the fight against the consequences of diseases of the population. It is necessary to make the health management process itself more efficient and convenient for patients and doctors and to optimize the costs of the healthcare system for its support. We are ready to consolidate in the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan initiatives that will contribute to this,” said Vitaly Bystryukov, Chairman of the Board of Sanofi Kazakhstan.
Today, one of the most acute problems for the whole world and especially for the countries of our region is a pandemic. This is largely due to the high mortality rate of the population from chronic noncommunicable diseases, the course of which is exacerbated during COVID-19. Statistics show that COVID-19 is more likely to be more severe in people over 60 years of age or with chronic diseases such as lung or heart disease, diabetes, or conditions that affect the immune system.
“We propose to develop our interaction within the framework of diabetes management and the development of local programs, including integrated digital solutions: the launch of online diabetes schools and training portals for doctors in the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to manage diseases, improve the condition of people with chronic diseases, reduce the incidence of complications and the costs of the healthcare system associated with the hospitalization of these patients. Sanofi has a proven track record in implementing disease management programs. At the exhibition, we will present to the participants the Norma and DIABEO projects aimed at involving both the doctor and the patient in therapy. The Norma Project is an integrated approach to diabetes management, including educating patients on insulin therapy, providing them with self-management, medical and administrative support. The second project that I want to draw your attention to is the DIABEO solution, which combines a mobile application for patients with a web portal for healthcare providers. It allows you to monitor your basal insulin therapy in real time and make therapeutic decisions by integrating both basal and bolus calculations. Based on internal expertise and through partnerships with external experts, Sanofi combines technology and knowledge in order to meet all the needs of patients,” added Vitaly Bystryukov.
Also within the framework of the exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan” discussed the relevance of vaccine prevention in the country, guarantees for the protection of rights to the results of intellectual activity in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the introduction of drug labeling.
