Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 February 2021, another round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State of Qatar took place in Doha.
The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad al-Mureikhiy.
The State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to improve the public administration system, modernize and liberalize the economy, create a favorable investment climate, and intensify international cooperation.
During the consultations, the state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Qatari relations, as well as certain issues of an international and regional nature, were discussed in detail.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Qatar have significant potential for the further development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation.
The proposals on strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue, building up trade, economic and investment ties were considered.
An exchange of views took place on the schedule and agenda of upcoming joint events at various levels and formats, in particular the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.
Particular attention was paid to the development of interaction in the cultural, humanitarian and tourism fields.
The head of the delegation of Uzbekistan invited the Qatari side to the International high-level conference “Central and South Asia: regional interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities”, which will be held this year in Tashkent.
Within the framework of the consultations, other issues of the general agenda were also considered.
