Helga Schmid: great breakthrough and cooperation between Uzbekistan and OSCE achieved
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 February 2021, a meeting was held between the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE), Ambassador Abat Fayzullayev, with the OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and the OSCE were discussed, including the prospects for the implementation of joint projects.
The OSCE Secretary General highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan to increase interaction with the OSCE and stressed the Organization's interest in further strengthening the dialogue.
It was noted that a major breakthrough has been achieved in bilateral relations in recent years, and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE is actively moving forward in a number of areas of mutual interest.
The sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening and expanding bilateral ties on youth issues and promoting gender equality, taking into account the priorities of the Swedish OSCE Chairmanship.
In conclusion, Helga Schmid announced the readiness of the OSCE Secretariat to take an active part in the implementation of projects and activities aimed at supporting the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan.
