Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of market services provided in Uzbekistan in January-December 2020 reached 218.85 trillion soums, and the nominal volume increased by 25.15 trillion soums. In comparable terms, compared to 2019, the growth rate was 2.3%.
Compared to January 2020, the volume of market services provided in December (discrete month) of the same year increased by 4.2 trillion soums and reached 20.5 trillion soums.
At the end of the IV discrete quarter of 2020, the volume of services provided was equal to 61.8 trillion soums, compared to the IV discrete quarter of 2019 (52.7 trillion soums), the volume increased by 9.1 trillion soums.
Compared to the volume of the III discrete quarter of 2020, the volume of the IV discrete month of 2020 increased by 5.4 trillion soums.
In the structure of provided market services by type of economic activity, trade services account for the largest share. In January-December 2020, their share was 25.8%.
High growth was noted in financial services (25.6%), communications and information services (15.3%), as well as in services in education (7.4%) and trade (1.7%). For all other types of activities related to the service sector, compared to the same period in 2019, there is a decrease in growth rates.
Despite a significant reduction in the volume of market services provided in the transport sector, their share in the total volume of services remains predominant - 24.6%.
In January-December 2020, the share of passenger road transport services reached 67.9%.
In January-December 2020, the share of trade services in the total volume of market services provided amounted to 25.8%, which corresponds to 56.55 trillion soums.
Over the past period of 2020, the share of retail trade amounted to almost three quarters of the total volume of trade services, or more precisely 68.7%.
Compared to other regions, the largest share of retail trade services is observed in Kashkadarya (86.4%), Andijan (86.4%), Jizzakh (84.1%), Surkhandarya (83.1%) and Navoi (81.9%) regions.
This indicator in Tashkent is insignificant. Here it was only 48.4%. However, in this city, the share of wholesale trade services is quite significant (except for trade in cars and motorcycles) - 44.7%. In the Andijan region, it was the smallest - 7.2%.
A relatively high share of services in the wholesale and retail trade of cars and motorcycles, including services for their repair, was noted in Samarkand (9.2%), Tashkent (8.2%), Ferghana (7.9%) and Navoi (7.7%) regions.
The volume of financial services in January-December 2020 reached 45.81 trillion soums.
Over the past period of 2020, the share of financial services in the total volume of services amounted to 20.9%.
Compared to 2019, there is an increase in the volume of financial services by 11.78 trillion soums. The growth of financial services in January-December 2020 amounted to 25.6%.
The share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, accounts for 91.5% of their total volume. Over the past period of 2020, the share of insurance services was recorded in the range of 5.1%
The largest volume of financial services in January-December 2020 was noted in the city of Tashkent. It increased by 6.56 trillion soums and reached 24.62 trillion soums.
In January-December 2020, the volume of communication and informatization services was fixed at the level of 12.88 trillion soums. Compared to 2019, the growth rate of this type of service reached 15.3%.
In the volume of communications and informatization services, the largest share falls on telecommunications services (wire and mobile communications, Internet, satellite communications, etc.). Their share in January-December 2020 amounted to 78.4%.
In January-December 2020, high growth rates of communication and informatization services were noted in Tashkent (+32.0%), Jizzakh (+14.0%), Syrdarya (+13.2%), Khorezm (+11.5%), Ferghana (+11.3%) and Kashkadarya (+11.2%) regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent (+18.8%).
Their slight increase, compared to the same period in 2019, was recorded in Bukhara (4.9%), Samarkand (8.4%), Surkhandarya (8.4%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (7.2%).
In January-December 2020, high growth rates of telecommunication services were noted in Tashkent (+36.5%), Jizzakh (+14.4%), Syrdarya (+14.3%), Kashkadarya (+12.5%) regions, as well as in the city Tashkent (+17.7%).
In January-December 2020, the volume of services in the field of education reached 9.07 trillion soums, or 4.1% of the total volume of market services provided. Compared to 2019, the growth rate was 7.4%.
In January-December 2020, the largest volume of services in the field of education was noted in Samarkand (736.7 billion soums), Ferghana (608.1 billion soums), Tashkent (582.7 billion soums) and Bukhara (537.6 billion soums) regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent (3 762.5 billion soums).
Compared to 2019, the volume of accommodation and food services in the period under review decreased by 55.1 billion soums.
In January-December 2020, food and beverage services dominate in the total volume of accommodation and catering services - 84.1%.
In January-December 2020, the share of the city of Tashkent in the total volume of market services is the most significant - 36.3% (in 2019 - 34.0%). The lowest indicators of the service sector were noted in Syrdarya region - 1.5% (in 2019 - 1.4%).
An increase in the volume of market services rendered per capita is observed monthly.
In January-December 2020, the volume of market services provided per capita reached 6.39 million soums. Compared to 2019, the growth rate was 0.4%.
For January-December 2020, this indicator among the regions ranges from 30.27 million soums in the city of Tashkent to 2.98 million soums in Surkhandarya region.
The low per capita indicator in Surkhandarya region is due here to the high indicators of the population.
As of 1 January 2021, the share of enterprises and organizations providing services reached 65.1%, industry - 17.6%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 8.7%. 8.6% of enterprises and organizations operate in construction.
In the structure of operating enterprises and organizations related to the service sector, the share engaged in trade activities prevails (42.7%). The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing accommodation and food services amounted to 9.7%. The share of operating enterprises and organizations related to transportation and storage and related to the service sector, in their total number, reached 5.6%. The share of operating enterprises and organizations engaged in information activities and providing communication services is 3.1%.
The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing services in the field of health care and social security amounted to 3.0% of their total number.
In January-December 2020, the share of small businesses in the total volume of market services produced amounted to 51.5%.
As of 1 January 2021, in the total number of enterprises and organizations providing services, small businesses accounted for 79.8%.
The development of the service sector in the republic depends on the growing purchasing power and preferences of the population, as well as the development of small businesses capable of meeting consumer demand, especially for modern types of services using ICT. In other words, the volume of production of services, on the one hand, is influenced by factors such as income and preferences of households, tariffs for services, on the other, investment, tax, monetary and scientific and technical policies, as well as the development of small businesses based on new technologies.
