Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the seventh plenary meeting of the upper chamber of the Oliy Majlis, it was decided to send a parliamentary request to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the conditions created for the development of women’s entrepreneurship.
On 20 November, at the ninth plenary session of the Senate, the results of this parliamentary inquiry were discussed.
It was noted that in our country some work is being done to support and further develop women’s entrepreneurship, protect their rights and legitimate interests, provide favorable conditions and a range of wide opportunities and guarantees for doing business.
Strengthening guarantees for the protection of women’s labor rights is one of the most important aspects of the work carried out in this direction. In particular, in order to further support their entrepreneurial initiatives, work was carried out to retrain the professions in demand on the labor market for women who have been caring for a child for a long time and are in a difficult economic situation. In addition, assistance was provided to those who expressed a desire to start entrepreneurship, as well as advice in the preparation of business ideas. As a result, 99.1 thousand unemployed women have been employed this year, and 11.5 thousand have been trained in professions in demand on the labor market. Out of the number of unemployed women, 412.1 thousand were involved in paid public works.
At the same time, during the meeting, the senators noted the existence of problems in this direction, awaiting their solution.
In particular, a number of problems were identified in the use of credit resources of commercial banks for the development of women’s entrepreneurship.
In particular, in 2020, the Trust Fund for the Support of Women and the Family allocated appropriate credit resources. However, in most cases, the funds allocated by the Fund to Women Entrepreneurs were not disbursed on time by commercial banks.
Senators stressed that some problematic issues raised in the parliamentary inquiry were not fully disclosed in the information of the Cabinet of Ministers. These include ensuring effective cooperation of organizations responsible for the development of women’s entrepreneurship, identifying unemployed and socially inactive layers of women, as well as the implementation of approved targeted measures to ensure their employment.
In this regard, the plenary session highlighted the need to take strict measures to address existing problems.
A corresponding resolution of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was adopted on this issue.
