Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 September 2020, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abat Fayzullayev presented his credentials to the Federal President of the Austrian Republic Alexander Van der Bellen in Vienna.
The ceremony took place at the Hofburg Palace, followed by a tour of the guard of honor and the playing of national anthems.
From the Austrian side, the event was also attended by advisers to the President of Austria on foreign policy and military issues, the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry and other officials.
During the conversation, the Federal President of Austria noted that Austria is well aware of the dynamic changes and large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. As a result, in recent years, Uzbekistan's reputation in Europe and around the world has grown dramatically.
He highly appreciated the positive dynamics in the Uzbek-Austrian relations and paid special attention to the need to further improve bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
As a reminder, on 19 August 2020, Abat Fayzullaev presented copies of his credentials to the Austrian Foreign Ministry. According to the diplomatic protocol, from the moment he presented the originals of his credentials to Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen in the Hofburg, the Uzbek Ambassador is considered to have fully assumed his duties.
