A cochlear implant is an electronic device that allows deaf people to hear sounds and speech around them. It consists of an inner and outer part. The surgeon implants the inner part into the deaf patient’s ear. The outer part with the processor is located on the patient’s ear and / or head. It captures sounds, speech and transmits them through the scalp to the inside.
According to WHO recommendations, ensuring access to cochlear implants along with hearing aids is one of the priorities and provides a significant advantage for people with hearing loss.
