Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, the Ministry of Transport and Uzbekistan Airports announced a competition for the best names for regional international airports in Uzbekistan.
The competition is announced with the aim of actively involving the public in determining the best names for regional airports in Uzbekistan, with the exception of the Tashkent airport named after I. Karimov and the airport of Andijan named after "Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur".
Persons who have reached the age of 16 can take part in the competition, including students, creative people, scientists, historians and others who show interest in the development of tourism, regardless of the participant’s citizenship.
To participate in the competition, the following conditions must be met:
To get acquainted with the terms of the competition on the websites of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, the Ministry of Transport and Uzbekistan Airports JSC. Develop a unique version of the name and describe its significance.
Send a version of your project name (in Uzbek, Russian or English) with a description of the idea to the organizers’ email address.
After two months after the announcement of the competition, the Commission from among representatives of ministries and departments, as well as the public, including prominent historians, will select 5 projects for each airport, which in the future will be put up for online voting within 2 (two) months.
Based on the results of online voting, the winners will be announced on the official websites of the State Committee for Tourism Development, the Ministry of Transport and Uzbekistan Airports JSC.
When choosing the best works for further online voting, the Commission will proceed from the following criteria: originality and attractiveness of the name;
- combination of the name with the potential (historical, cultural, natural, etc.) of the regions where the airport is located;
- observance of ethics and linguistic culture (the content of abusive or offensive words is not allowed, the name should not cause negative associations);
- versatility and brevity.
