Uzbek police seize about 200 kg of raw opium in southern region

Traffic police officers in southern Uzbekistan’s Qashqadarya region have discovered about 200 kg of raw opium in a lorry, the Na Postu newspaper reported on 16 June.
"One by one, they took out exactly 100 packages of a densely-packed sticky dark brown substance, which, after a special analysis, was identified as raw opium weighing about 200 kg," the report said.
The lorry belonged to a man from Surkhandarya region, which borders Afghanistan, the report added.
