Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan has organized negotiations in the format of a video conference on bilateral cooperation in the field of civil aviation and international tourism, the Dunyo news agency reported.
From the Pakistani side, representatives of the leadership of the Civil Aviation Agency, the Information and Tourism Center of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, from the Uzbek side - the Ministry of Transport, the State Committee for Tourism, Uzbekistan Airways JSC and its representative office in Lahore took part in them.
The meeting participants discussed the issues of increasing the frequency of flights of Uzbek airlines to Pakistan, in particular, opening the Tashkent-Islamabad-Tashkent direction with the closure of Tashkent-Lahore-Tashkent flights and the relocation of the official representative office of UzAirways JSC to Islamabad.
Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Jasurbek Choriev explained in detail about the measures taken by the country's leadership to increase the attractiveness of the logistics capabilities of Uzbekistan, the announcement of the "open skies" regime at certain airports of the country, preferences for the implementation of transit traffic through the Navoi air terminal.
During the negotiations, the prospects for the implementation of cargo flights to / from Pakistan were discussed in detail, in particular, the participants considered the expansion of the geography of flights through the international airport of Sialkot very promising.
The meeting discussed the development of tourist trips to Uzbekistan within the framework of the "Ziyorat-tourism" program in the post-pandemic period.
The participants of the event were familiarized with the results of negotiations held with representatives of the "Naqshbandiya" movement in Pakistan, who express special interest in making a pilgrimage to holy places in Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent. Followers of this movement, which number more than 5 million people, expressed their readiness to visit Uzbekistan in just one season, amounting to more than 3 thousand people, as well as to rent aircraft of Uzbekistan for flights from Islamabad to Tashkent, and after the pilgrimage, go to Umrah and Hajj to Saudi Arabia. and back to Pakistan.
These circumstances expressed considerable interest from the Pakistani side, in particular, the Deputy Chairman of the Civil Aviation Agency of the IRP Irfan Sabir noted that he is familiar with the Naqshbandiya current, which is one of the largest communities in Pakistan, and assured of the possibility of implementing this project with the assistance of both Uzbek and Pakistani airlines.
Irfan Sabir also stressed that in view of the presence of the necessary regulatory framework on both sides, the Pakistani side will provide maximum assistance in opening a new air route to Islamabad.
The parties expressed interest in regularly holding webinars and negotiations, an agreement was reached on the preparation of draft regulations providing for the development of cooperation between the two parties in these areas.
