Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 July 2020, as part of a visit to Ankara, a delegation of Uzbekistan under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov visited the Ankara-1 united industrial zone.
The Ankara-1 United Industrial Zone (UIZ) was established in 1978 with the assistance of the Ankara Chamber of Industry and is considered one of the most developed industrial zones in Turkey. The area of the territory is about 1 thousand hectares, while it includes 270 industrial enterprises, which employ more than 35 thousand people. The UIZ concentrates production of rolled metal, furniture, electrical equipment, textiles, food and chemical products, as well as agricultural enterprises and factories of the military-industrial complex. The volume of annual trade is estimated at US$6 billion, while the volume of exports exceeds US$2 billion.
During the visit, the advanced Turkish experience in managing industrial zones was studied, which consists in the comprehensive and consistent provision of the zone participants with the necessary engineering communications and resources, as well as the creation of the necessary social infrastructure for employees of enterprises participating in the industrial zone. Thus, on the territory of the Ankara-1, a stable connection of each participant to gas, electricity and water supply networks, sewerage systems and high-speed Internet lines has been organized, as well as branches of commercial banks, a center for the provision of medical services, a post office, public catering, sports grounds, conference rooms, training centers, environmental control laboratories, helipads and the necessary infrastructure for their maintenance.
Also, an agreement was reached with the management of the administration of the Ankara-1 UIZ to establish bilateral cooperation, meaning the introduction of modern practices for managing industrial zones in the process of improving the activities of free economic zones in Uzbekistan.
