Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- An online meeting of the republican council for international ratings and indexes was held on July 13 chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Council Tanzila Narbaeva, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
The meeting commenced with a special attention paid to the fact that Uzbekistan with a score of 0.017 was for the first time included in the competitive industrial performance report 2020 of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on July 3, 2020, ranking 92nd among 152 countries, 5th among CIS countries, and 2nd among Central Asian countries. This is an illustration of the special attention paid by the Government of our country to the support of the initiative to work with international ratings and indices.
In additions, the tasks to be accomplished as regards to the indices such as "Global Competitiveness", "Global Innovations", "Budget Transparency" and " FDI Regulatory Restrictiveness Index ", where our country was not reflected, as well as proposals for future prospects were discussed.
In particular, specific action plans and their timely implementation mechanisms in order to be included in the Global Competitiveness Index and the Global Innovation Index have been approved by the Decree of the President. The Ministry of Finance has launched the information portal openbudget.uz in order to ensure the transparency of budget information and citizen participation in the budget process. The cooperation with the International Budget Community, which maintains the Budget Transparency Index is established. Work is underway to compile the report "OIC Investment policy commentary - Uzbekistan" for the Foreign Direct Investment Regulatory Restrictiveness Index.
In addition, according to the report of the first meeting of the republican council for international ratings and indices, the officials responsible for working with priority international ratings and indices in local government were appointed.
In particular, the members of the council discussed a number of proposals by the governor of Navoi region senator K. Tursunov to improve the country's position in priority international rankings and indices, increase investment attractiveness, simplify the process of voluntary liquidation of suspended businesses.
Meanwhile, in the near future, in order to ensure transparency of the process of working with international ratings and indices for the public and to establish a systematic healthy debate, a presentation of separate trainings in the form of webinars for the responsible ministries and offices working with socio-economic and political-legal ratings and indices and local public authorities was held.
Rating and indices organizations, the mechanism of working with them, their importance for the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the analysis of these rating and indices methodologies and existing problems are planned to be discussed in the trainings .
Invitation of committees representatives of the Oliy Majlis chambers, independent non-governmental organizations and the media to participate in these trainings was also considered.
Republican advisory bodies together with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education were instructed to implement courses for students and trainees on the impact of this field on the socio-economic and political life of the country in the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Banking and Finance Academy, institutes and centers of advanced training and higher education institutions.
At the end of the meeting, plans of practical and organizational measures in the socio-economic and political-legal spheres to improve the position of the country in the priority international rankings and indices were considered. The plans to be implemented by the attached responsible ministries and departments during the second half of 2020 have been approved.
