A briefing was held on the urgent tasks of organizing the admission process for the 2020/2021 academic year

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 June, a briefing was held at the Tashkent State University of Economics under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the State Testing Center, the Ministry of Public Education, and the Ministry of Higher Education and secondary specialized education, as well as the leaders of a number of universities, devoted to pressing issues related to the organization of the process of admission of students for the 2020/2021 academic year.
As part of the briefing, a discussion was held on the issuance of certificates for graduates of the 11th grades of the 2019/2020 academic year and the formation of their database, the organization of professional (creative) exams for admission to specialized educational areas, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the preparation of higher educational institutions and improving the efficiency of the educational process in the current conditions.
Along with this, employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction provided detailed information on the parameters provided for in the draft resolution on the approval of the parameters for admission to higher educational institutions for the 2020/2021 academic year and the procedure for their formation on the basis of an in-depth analysis of regional and sectoral needs frames.
When forming reception parameters in accordance with paragraph 168 of the State Program for the Implementation of the Strategy of Action for the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017–2021, approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan UP-5953 of March 2, 2020, in the “Year of the Development of Science, Education and Digital Economy”, the following orders were envisaged:
Based on the Address of the President of the Oliy Majlis on 24 January 2020:
- gradual increase in grant places;
- the provision of separate grant places for girls;
- relevant tasks to expand training in the natural and engineering fields in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-5847 of October 8, 2019.
Also, an increase in the target parameters for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs on the basis of state grants for regions where there is a high demand for medical personnel, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4666 of April 7, 2020.
In order to provide the regions with personnel with higher education, based on the needs in the regions and based on targeted programs, as well as development strategies implemented in the republic, in the admission parameters:
In the 2020/2021 academic year, it is planned:
- a significant increase in admission parameters in the field of engineering, production, architecture, pedagogy, humanities and healthcare,
- the creation of a number of new directions in order to train qualified personnel for the development of areas such as oriental studies, energy, and agriculture.
Digitalization of the formation of the needs of sectors of the economy in qualified personnel, by introducing, starting from the academic year 2021/2022, a fully automated system - quota.mineconomy.uz.
