Establishment of cooperation between religious research institutions of Uzbekistan and Malaysia discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 June 2020, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, a solemn ceremony of online signing of agreements between religious research institutions of our country and the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) took place.
The documents were signed by Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan Shoazim Minovarov, director of the International Research Center of Imam Bukhari Shovosil Ziyodov, vice-rector for international cooperation of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan Bahromjon Mamadiev and chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding of Malaysia Ahmad Sarzhi bin Abdul Hamidian in presence of the Uzbek Ambassador Ravshan Usmanov.
The above agreements envisage the cooperation of research institutions of Uzbekistan with a Malaysian partner to study the Islamic Islamic heritage, hold joint conferences, seminars and research on ancient manuscripts stored in Uzbekistan, as well as carry out studies on enlightened Islam.
Along with this, the Malaysian side was familiarized with the ongoing reforms and reforms in the country to develop civil society, ensure tolerance and religious freedom, as well as protect the rights of believers and prevent their discrimination. It is emphasized that the Government of Uzbekistan pays considerable attention to the issues of the correct perception and understanding of the religion of Islam.
In turn, the chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding of Malaysia emphasized that Uzbekistan, being the cradle of Islamic civilizations and the birthplace of world famous thinkers who, through their work, made an undeniable contribution to the development of modern science, is of great interest to the scientific and academic community of Malaysia.
According to Ahmad Sargi bin Abdul Hamid, the opportunity provided by the Uzbek side to study the more than 100 thousand ancient and unique manuscripts stored in the republic will allow you to deeply know the true enlightened Islam.
As a result of the event, an agreement was reached on organizing a video conference between the above-mentioned research institutions of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Islamic Understanding of Malaysia at the expert level in order to discuss further steps of cooperation and mechanisms for implementing joint events, as well as adding scientific publications published in Uzbekistan to the IKIM online library.
The Institute of Islamic Understanding of Malaysia (IKIM) was established in 1992 to plan and conduct fundamental and in-depth research in the field of scientific Islam. The Institute also has a Center for the Study of Sharia, Islamic Law and Politics (Center for the Study of Shari'ah, Law & Politics - SYARAK), a Center for Science and Environment Studies (KIAS) and a Center for Economic and Social Research (Center for Economics & Social Studies - EMAS).
