Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Uzbekistan is stepping up efforts to improve the system of state power and administration, democratize society, and implement reforms in the field of state and social construction. One of the goals is to improve the country's position in priority international ratings and indices.
To achieve the relevant indicators, it is planned to introduce a new mechanism based on a systematic analysis of the level of socio-economic and political-legal development of the country.
The decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev from 2 June envisages the creation of a special Republican Council that will oversee the development and implementation of effective measures to improve the country's position in its priority international ratings and indices distributed between working bodies, and coordinate systemic international cooperation in this direction. The working bodies of the council will be the ministries of finance and justice.
The document stipulates the development of a mechanism for evaluating the performance of the first leaders of responsible government agencies (KPI). It is assumed that at the end of each quarter, the first heads of ministries and departments will submit to the council’s working bodies information on the reforms being implemented in the country with the necessary statistics and other materials, and will report on measures taken to achieve KPI in the relevant international ratings and indices.
It is worth noting that over the past four years, Uzbekistan has risen 52 positions in the Index of Economic Freedom, Logistics Performance Index - 19, Doing Business Index - 18, and moved from the OECD Country Risk Classification Rating 6 to 5 group.
Up-to-date information on the current positions of the country will be posted on the portal “The Republic of Uzbekistan in International Rankings”, the launch of which is scheduled for 1 October 2020.
