Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 May 2020, an expanded meeting of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Uzbekneftegaz was held at the construction site of the GTL plant in the Kashkadarya region, under the leadership of Minister of Energy A.S. Sultanov. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
During the workshop, the implementation of the entire GTL investment project, the pace of construction and installation work, the progress of the pre-commissioning work of a number of equipment and technological installations of the GTL plant, were discussed in detail, as well as special attention was paid to the preparation of the commissioning and operational personnel of the plant.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the Ministry of Energy, Uzbekneftegaz JSC, Uzbekistan GTL LLC, Shurtansky Mining and Chemical Combine LLC, Eriell Group LLC, project directors of the consortium of general contractor Hyundai Engineering Ltd. Co. and Enter Engineering Pte. Ltd., TechnipFMC project management consultant, as well as senior staff.
During the meeting, Minister of Energy A.S. Sultanov noted "It is necessary to ensure high qualification readiness of specialists who will launch this plant.
Considering the novelty and complexity of technological processes, as well as the absence, until today, of similar production facilities in Uzbekistan and throughout the region, it is very important that all specialists who will carry out the commissioning and commissioning of the plant are very well trained, trained and possess sufficient knowledge and skills. "
It was also noted that the best engineers of the Shurtan Gas Processing Plant, Ustyurt Gas Processing Plant, Bukhara Oil Refinery will be invited to launch this plant, and it is also necessary to attract experienced specialists from TechnipFMC, Oryx GTL and EGTL
With the commissioning of a plant for the production of synthetic liquid fuels based on the Shurtan gas chemical complex, imports of jet fuel and diesel fuel to Uzbekistan will be significantly reduced. In 2021, the plant will begin to produce synthetic diesel fuel, kerosene, naphtha and liquefied natural gas from natural gas [methane], with a phased access to full design capacity.
After reaching full design capacity, the plant will process 3.6 billion cubic meters. natural gas (methane) per year and produce 1.5 million tons of high-quality synthetic liquid fuels, including more than 307 thousand tons of jet fuel, 724 thousand tons of diesel fuel, 437 thousand tons of naphtha and 53 thousand tons of liquefied gas.
958 sets of basic technological equipment have already been delivered to the construction site, of which about 700 sets, with a total weight of more than 35 thousand tons, have already been installed in the technological part of the plant. The assembly and installation of Fischer-Tropsch reactors has been fully completed.
To operate the plant from all over the republic, specialists were selected who underwent industrial training at the Shurtan gas chemical complex, the Bukhara oil refinery, and also completed an internship at the Ustyurt gas chemical complex and the similar Oryx GTL plant in Qatar. Training for operating personnel continues. Specialists are trained by experienced engineers of the plant’s technology licensors, equipment manufacturers, including the process control system.
The GTL plant in Uzbekistan, with a total value of more than $ 3.61 billion, will be one of the most innovative production enterprises in the region, will expand the capacity for deep processing of natural gas, reduce the import of hydrocarbons, and cover the country's needs for modern, high-quality and environmentally friendly fuel. and also provide the market with strategic products made from our own raw materials.
The implementation of the investment project has entered the final phase and is completed by more than 87%. Today, construction work continues at the construction site of the plant in Kashkadarya region, where about 11 thousand workers and specialists, including foreign ones, are involved, 973 units of equipment are mobilized. It is worth noting that the work is carried out in several shifts, primarily observing the safety requirements of workers and with strict observance of all quarantine and sanitary-epidemiological requirements, as well as with strict quality control. It is planned to complete the construction of the plant at the end of this year, while at the moment, pre-commissioning work has already begun at some technological installations of the plant
