Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the results of January-February 2020, the retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached 25.81 trillion soums and increased by 5.0% compared to the same period of 2019, and the turnover of large enterprises made up 3.88 trillion soums (growth rate-5.8%), and small business and private entrepreneurship – 21.92 trillion soums (growth rate – 4.9%), including unorganized trade made up 2.02 trillion soums (compared with the same period of 2019 decrease of 2.8%).
The retail trade turnover in January-February 2020 reached 25.81 trillion soums and increased by 5.0% compared to the same period of last year.
In comparison with the corresponding period of the last year, in all regions of the republic there is an increase in growth rates in retail trade.
High growth rates are also observed in the structure of small business and private entrepreneurship.
A significant share in the structure of the republic’s retail turnover was noted in Tashkent city, which is 21.8%, or 5.61 trillion soums.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the smallest share was fixed at 1.9%, or 478.9 billion soums, which was noted in Syrdarya region.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of the turnover of small business and private entrepreneurship in the reporting period made up 85.0% of total sales, their main share was observed in Syrdarya (96.1%), Kashkadarya (95.4%), Tashkent (91.4%), Surkhandarya (91.4%), Navoi (89.4%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (89.7%).
Compared with the same period of last year, in all regions of the republic there was an increase in growth in retail trade. Along with this, relatively high growth rates were noted in Jizzakh (+11.8%), Samarkand (+9.6%), Namangan (+6.3%), Kashkadarya (+5.8%), Ferghana (+5.2%) regions.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the volume of trade turnover of large enterprises increased by 5.8% and reached 3.88 trillion soums, which is 15.0% of its total volume.
The turnover of retail trade of small businesses and private entrepreneurship, according to statistical calculations, made up 21.92 trillion soums and, compared to the same period of last year, increased by 4.9%. The share of this sector in the Republic's retail trade turnover reached 85.0%.
The share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was highest in Syrdarya (96.1%), Kashkadarya (95.4%), Surkhandarya (91.4%), Tashkent (91.4%), Navoi (89.4%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (89.7%).
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of turnover of large enterprises made up 15.0% of total sales, their main share was observed in Tashkent (28.2%), Khorezm (19.4%) and Samarkand (16.6%) regions.
Retail sales per capita in the republic in January-February 2020 averaged 768.6 thousand soums (compared with the same period of last year, it increased by 3.1%).
Consequently, it has increased in all regions of the republic. This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was recorded more in the city of Tashkent (2 209.6 thousand soums), Tashkent (943.5 thousand soums) and Navoi (885.1 thousand soums) regions, which can be explained the location of large commercial and industrial enterprises in these regions.
According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals, the volume of unorganized trade in January-February 2020 made up 2 022.0 billion soums and, compared with the same period of last year, decreased by 2.8%. Including trade turnover on dehkan markets made up 837.7 billion soums (a decrease, compared to the same period of last year, made up 6.5%), trade turnover on livestock markets was fixed at 1.18 trillion soums (pace growth of 100.0%).

In January-February 2020, in the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of public catering enterprises made up 2.9%, reaching 755.6 billion soums and increased by 8.2% compared to the same period of last year. Of these, 84.8% of the turnover accounted for by small businesses.
The turnover of public trade in the reporting period made up 755,6 billion soums (versus January-February 2019-108.2%), by type of ownership: non-state – 723.8 billion soums and state – 31.8 billion soums. Compared with the same period of last year, the turnover of public enterprises of state ownership increased from 4.0% to 4.2%.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2020 the volume of wholesale trade reached 13 106.3 billion soums and, compared with the same period of last year, the increase was 8.5%. The wholesale trade turnover of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, reached 10 109.5 billion soums and, compared with the corresponding period last year, increased by 6.1%. The share of this sector in the wholesale trade turnover in the republic made up 77.1%.
The highest growth rates in the wholesale turnover of large enterprises, compared with the previous year, were observed in Andijan (+98.6%), Surkhandarya (+32.4%) regions and the city of Tashkent (+75.3%).
In the structure of the wholesale trade turnover, the share of small business turnover in the reporting period made up 77.1% of total sales, their main share was observed in Kashkadarya (89.6%), Ferghana (86.5%), Bukhara (85.8%), Khorezm (80.8%) regions and the city of Tashkent (82.8%).
In recent years, the role of the public sector in the total volume of wholesale trade has been steadily declining. So, during the reporting period, the share of this sector decreased from 0.11% to 0.07% of the total volume of wholesale trade. The wholesale trade turnover in January-February 2020 made up 13.1 trillion soums, including entities of non-state subordination – 13.09 trillion soums, state subordination - 8.9 billion soums.
Analysis of the share of wholesale trade by ownership showed that there is still a small share of state ownership in Tashkent city (0.12%), Tashkent (0.03%), Navoi (0.08%) and Andijan (0.03%) areas. In other regions, wholesale as a whole is a non-state form of ownership.
