A project “Health promoting schools” to be implemented in schools in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and the Representative Office of the World Health Organization in Uzbekistan (WHO) are implementing the project “Health promoting schools” in three regions of the country.
The aim of the project is to create a network of schools that promote health, and improve the health of children, as well as create a healthy environment in schools through the development of skills in students.
The project is being implemented in accordance with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On comprehensive measures to radically improve the healthcare system of the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated December 7, 2018.
On 10-14 February, seminars were held in three regions of Uzbekistan for representatives of pilot schools with the participation of WHO consultant in Kazakhstan Laura Utemisova.
Seminars were held for schools No. 163 and the non-governmental school "Leader" in Tashkent, schools No. 5 in Fergana and No. 20 in Rishtan (Ferghana region), schools No. 25 in Karshi and No. 25 in Dekhkanabad district (Kashkadarya region).
The seminar was attended by principals, deputy principals, psychologists, nurses and members of the School Supervisory Boards.
The seminar participants were acquainted with the progress of the project “Schools that promote health” in the Republic of Kazakhstan and other CIS countries.
For representatives of pilot schools, the WHO consultant in Kazakhstan, L. Utemisova, conducted practical exercises on the selection of project implementation areas.
