Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - At the Agency for the Development of Atomic Energy (Uzatom Agency) under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held with a delegation of the Embassy of the French Republic led by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to the Republic of Uzbekistan Isabelle Servoz-Gallucci and Regional Atomic Energy Advisor to the Embassy of France in the Russian Federation, Commissioner for Uzbekistan, Alexander Gorbachev.
The French side, positively appreciating the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes,” noted that this law complies with all accepted international standards, in which ensuring the safety of the population and increasing the transparency of control by society occupies a special place.
During the meeting, the bilateral agreements reached on the results of the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to France in September 2019, as well as the establishment of partnerships with French companies were discussed.
It was noted that a joint venture was created in Uzbekistan with the participation of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources, and the French company Orano Mining S.A. on uranium exploration and production, as well as the Uzenergoengineering – Assystem joint venture in the energy sector with Assystem to design all types of electrical networks and energy facilities using innovative technologies.
As part of the further development of bilateral relations, the Uzbek side was invited to consider the possibility of establishing close ties with the largest French manufacturers of equipment for the energy sector with their involvement in the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to deepen and accelerate the expansion of production localization and industrial cooperation.
The parties also considered issues of the current state of legislative and regulatory provisions in Uzbekistan, cooperation in the field of personnel training, as the basis for the professional competence of specialists in the field of atomic energy, ratification of the main international acts in the field of atomic energy use
