Uzbek delegation pays visit to Poland

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - An Uzbek delegation consisting of representatives of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies visited the Polish capital. As part of the visit, a series of meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Senate, the OSCE / ODIHR and the European Diplomatic Academy, as well as a conference on the “Essence and Importance of the Reforms in Uzbekistan” were held.
During separate meetings of the Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Alisher Kurmanov and the First Deputy Director of the Islamic Institute for Humanities under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Nematov, a thorough exchange of views took place on issues of democratization of society, organization of parliamentary elections, socially oriented market relations, as well as aspects of the Uzbek-Polish interaction in the trade and economic sphere.
The aim of the conference was to inform the Polish public about the preparations for the 22 December parliamentary elections, the election practices of Uzbekistan in the field of ensuring openness, transparency and legality of the organization and conduct of elections, the country's domestic and foreign policies, measures to improve the economy and the financial and investment sphere, the development of tourism and other areas.
The conference was attended by members of the Polish Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ministries of economy, science and higher education, defense, experts, business and academic circles, and the media.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the European Union of the Sejm (lower house of parliament) A. Charnetsky emphasized that both the actual and legal suffrage of Uzbekistan are within the framework of global trends.
- On the one hand, it is based on international practice, on the other, it takes into account national historical experience. In Poland, they fully support this right path. Free democratic elections have become the norm of public life in Uzbekistan, an important constitutional guarantee recognized by the international community of an internal political order, and a factor of stability in relations between the state and civil society, the parliamentarian noted.
Professor Todeusz Bodio, head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the Institute of Political Sciences at the University of Warsaw, expressed his opinion that the parliament of Uzbekistan is a vivid indicator of the democratic nature of the existing constitutional system.
“In Poland and Uzbekistan, issues of ensuring openness and transparency during the preparation and conduct of elections are implemented by the norms of constitutions and electoral legislation,” he said. - The development of public authorities, the formation of civil society structures, the formation of a multi-party system have predetermined profound qualitative changes in the development of the institution of free elections in Uzbekistan.
Professor of the Higher School of International Relations and Social Communications, Jerzy Schukalski, said that the conference participants supported and appreciated the experience of the CEC of Uzbekistan at the invitation of international and foreign observers for the parliamentary elections. According to him, the participation of foreign observers is the most important tool that facilitates the holding of free, fair and open elections.
