Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 December, the Uztekstilprom Association organized a seminar on the topic “Priority tasks of cotton-textile clusters for 2020”.
The main purpose of this seminar was to summarize the results of 2019, identify new tasks for the coming years, and also congratulate the organizers of cotton-textile clusters on the successful completion of the harvest season for 2019.
Over the past three years, in the country, as in all other areas, programs have been developed in the textile sector, "road maps" have been consistently implemented, and the cluster method of organizing cotton production has been widely adopted. Over the past two years, the volume of land allotted to cotton-growing textile clusters amounted to 68 percent of the agricultural land allocated for this crop. If in the first years of independence, we processed only 6-7 percent of the cotton fiber grown on our land, today there is an opportunity to process at least 80 percent.
The legal basis for the development of cotton-textile clusters was the Decrees and Resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers, according to which, in 2019, 75 cotton clusters were created in 118 districts of the country, 2,065,300 tons (100.0%) were collected for 701,000 hectares from the forecast), or more than 70% of the total cotton crop. It should be noted that 95,300 tons (or 5.1%) were harvested by more than 180 modern cotton pickers.
The seminar was attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan N. Otajonov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture B. Khalikov, chairman of the Uztekstilprom Association I. Khaidarov, representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources, chairman of Uzkimyosanoat O. Temirov, representatives of Uzagrotechsanoatolding JSC ”, The Agricultural Support Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, JOHN DEERE, Case New Holland and cotton-textile clusters.
This year, drip irrigation technology was introduced on 9,000 hectares of cotton fields. In particular, drip irrigation technology was introduced by the Israeli company Netafim, the Chinese company Qingdao Flourish Textile Machinery CO LTD and many other local companies, in some places the yield was increased up to 60%.
It is also encouraging that organic cotton is grown for the first time in Uzbekistan. At the same time, Textile Technologies Group and the Academy of Sciences jointly produced organic cotton without any chemicals and were certified by a European certification company.
The speakers at the event spoke about the positive achievements of the organizers of cotton-textile clusters in 2019 and obstacles to the development of the sector, the proper distribution of cotton on agricultural fields and the provision of high-quality seeds, the balanced distribution of irrigation and land reclamation and water supply systems, the production and import of machinery and agricultural machinery from abroad, as well as the gradual mechanization of cotton picking by 2020, the benefits of working to improve the financing of mineral conveniences eny, the use of credit resources.
