Increasing the role of the media in the modernization of the agricultural sector and water use

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - An expert group led by the head of the branch of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) in Uzbekistan, Shahnozа Umarova, visited Spain to discuss a project on organizing a study tour for representatives of the media and press services of state bodies of the republic in this country.

The main goal of the project, planned for implementation in January 2020, is to familiarize with the Spanish experience in the implementation of new technologies in the field of water and agriculture.

This topic is very relevant for Uzbekistan, where large-scale reforms have been carried out in recent years, including in the agricultural sector. In the implementation of these transformations, an important role is played by the media, which are able to convey to society their essence and significance, to reveal advantages and prospects.

The study tour will take place as part of the large-scale project “Raising Awareness and Partnership for Sustainable Water and Environmental Development in Uzbekistan” (UzWaterAware), implemented by CAREC with financial support from the European Union.

During the current stay of the expert group in Spain, agreements were reached with organizations and departments located in the cities of Toledo, Almeria, Cordoba. In particular, according to the results of the negotiations, a program of the upcoming press tour was formed, which will include a course of lectures at the University of Castile La Mancha, meetings with representatives of the Regional Center for Water Research “CREA”, the National Federation of Spanish Irrigation Societies “FENACORE”, visiting experimental greenhouse centers Las Palmerillas and ANECOOP, as well as a seminar with experts from the Association of Irrigation Societies of the Andalusia Region and the University of Cordoba School of Agriculture.
