Uzbekistan Embassy in Russia prepares for parliamentary elections

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia took part in a regular meeting of the Central Election Commission via video conferencing to discuss the preparations for the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local Kengashes, Dunyo news agency reported.
During the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov informed about the organization of 7 polling stations in the host country - in the cities of Moscow, Vladivostok, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Novosibirsk. Suggestions were made regarding the establishment of a 19-member precinct election commission at the Embassy.
The Embassy, together with the Consulates General of Uzbekistan in these cities, has begun work on compiling a list of voters from among Uzbek citizens temporarily or permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation. In order to inform compatriots on the basis of the corresponding schedule, field events are held, including in higher education institutions, organizations, structures and companies of Russia, in which our citizens study or work.
To date, meetings have already been held at the Higher School of Economics National Research University, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Moscow State University of Technology and Management, the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, and the Moscow Polytechnic University. In November-December of the current year, more than 30 field events are planned, including in universities, large companies and analytical centers of Russia.
At the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow, a polling station No. 31 is organized, where all conditions will be created for the voting of citizens included in the voters list. At the same time, in places located far from the polling station and having a significant number of voters, it is planned to organize early voting.
Work is underway to attract observers from among representatives of parliamentary, government, expert-analytical, academic and business circles of the Russian Federation. On November 6, a briefing was held at the Embassy for representatives of the Russian media and the Moscow media offices of Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Japan and Sweden. During the event, journalists were presented with detailed information about the modern electoral system of Uzbekistan, the features of the current elections, and the preparations for them.
At the CEC meeting, the leadership of the commission made additional recommendations on the organizational issues of holding parliamentary elections in polling stations at foreign diplomatic missions.
