The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the work of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers is headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilkhom Nematov.
The previous Ministerial Meeting of Senior Officials was attended by Permanent Representatives, as well as Senior Officials from the authorized ministries and departments of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Topical issues of interaction between the countries of the region in priority areas of cooperation in the trade and economic, investment, transport and communication, as well as tourism sectors were discussed.
The annual reports of specialized agencies, regional institutes and affiliated bodies of the ECO were heard and approved for further approval by the Ministerial Council.
The Secretary General of the ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Adem Kula, presented the results of the 25th meeting of the Executive Committee of the CCI CCI held in December 2018 in Tashkent. He expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the opportunity to hold this important event for the ECO in Tashkent. He emphasized that the meeting of the Executive Committee of the IPO CCI took place for the first time in the past 18 years and served as an important event in strengthening cooperation between representatives of private business of countries of the ECO region.
Participants of the event noted that the revitalization of Uzbekistan in the framework of the ECO is due to the large-scale economic reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the country, where measures to protect the interests of entrepreneurs and foreign investors are given important attention.
Earlier, Uzbekistan refrained from active participation in the activities of this organization, which was called upon, first of all, to strengthen trade, economic, transport and communication cooperation throughout the region.
ECO was established in 1964 with the participation of Iran, Pakistan and Turkey. In 1993, the countries of Central Asia - Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan joined this organization.
