IAEA Deputy Director General visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A delegation of the IAEA is paying a visit to Uzbekistan as the country develops nuclear energy.
The delegation took part in celebrations and official meetings with numerous departments and ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On the first day of the official visit, the IAEA delegation visited the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences, where the official start of the IAEA mission of experts (OMARR mission) in collaboration with the INP, the press service of the Ministry of Energy, was reported.
Also, the delegation members were familiarized with the preparatory work of the branch of the NRNU MEPhI University in Tashkent. In addition, the delegation took part in an official meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
By the end of the first day, the IAEA representative got acquainted with the activities of the Uzatom Agency and visited the Atomic Technology Information Center (ICAT). An official meeting was also held at the Uzatom Agency, where they discussed the preparation and conduct of the INIR mission in 2020.
The parties discussed a number of areas of cooperation in the development of nuclear infrastructure. Key issues for discussion were the introduction of advanced technologies in the nuclear field and the training and advanced training of highly qualified personnel.
On the second day of the visit, the IAEA representative is expected to participate in a ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of cooperation with the IAEA.
A meeting with university students and media representatives is planned as part of the event. The visit of the IAEA delegation to the Republic of Uzbekistan continues.
