Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 July 2019, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Columbia University and the Capital Market Development Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On 16 July, a meeting was held between delegation of Uzbekistan and Columbia University representatives in New York city. As a result of the meeting, the first in the history of this kind of document was signed – a Memorandum between Columbia University and the Capital Market Development Agency on the implementation of educational programs aimed at improving the skills of managers working in the financial and economic unit of Uzbekistan.
Director of the Agency Atabek Nazirov noted that Columbia University, located in New York, in the center of the financial industry , is one of the leading universities with an impressive academic base and relationships with the global financial industry.
Professor Emiki (William B. Eimicke), whose center has experience in such programs in America, Europe, Asia, Africa, noted the initiatives and the important role of the Agency in the development of financial infrastructure of Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to provide academic support in the development of educational programs for the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Agency.
The parties agreed that at the initial stage Columbia University together with the Agency will hold a number of trainings and seminars in Tashkent this autumn.
Recall, Columbia University – is one of the oldest educational institutions in the United States founded in 1754, which is one of the eight American universities that make up the IVY – League. Its graduates are many outstanding scientists, public and political figures, including 3 us presidents, 96 Nobel laureates and 29 heads of state.
