Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - An open dialogue was held at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications between representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and journalists on the topic “State policy on the development of the fuel and energy industry of the republic: problems and ways to solve them”.
The event discussed the current state of the fuel and energy industry and its development prospects.
During the dialogue, the chairman of the board of JSC Thermal Electric Power Plants Ruslan Mubarakshin told reporters that two thermal power plants of Uzbekistan, the Angren and Novo-Angren, are planned to be transferred to the trust management of the Kazakhstan company Mining Works.
However, he noted that the implementation of this plan will create a precedent. “The transfer of power plants to private hands in Uzbekistan will happen for the first time. At present, the process of agreeing the relevant document is underway, in which it is provided for, among other things, the maximum reduction in the use of natural gas and an increase in the share of coal combustion at these stations. TPPs will be transferred to management for three years,” Ruslan Mubarakshin said.
Explaining the choice of the company " Mining Works ", the head of JSC "Thermal Power Plants" explained that this company is a co-owner of large coal mines in Kazakhstan, in connection with which the issue of coal supply to Uzbekistan on preferential terms is discussed, so that the cost of electricity, and tariffs for consumers, not increased.
“Coal supplies will be carried out until the Angren coal mine is fully operational,” Ruslan Mubarakshin stressed.
