Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 June 2019, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the Senate Nigmatulla Yuldoshev with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum.
During the meeting, issues of development and strengthening of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States, the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue were discussed.
It was noted that bilateral relations have risen to a higher level and are characterized by positive dynamics, which became possible due to the decisiveness and pragmatic policy of the presidents of the two states.
The parties also emphasized the need to further intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation, search for new forms and mechanisms for deepening cooperation in this direction. The successful implementation of the Open World program was noted. Within its framework, employees and members of the Uzbek parliament visit the American parliament every year, study its legislative activities, the practice of parliamentary control. The visit of US congressmen to Uzbekistan this year is also envisaged.
As noted in the Joint Statement of the Presidents of Uzbekistan and the United States, countries have entered a new era of strategic partnership. Based on this, Uzbekistan is interested in further deepening comprehensive cooperation with the United States of America.
At the same time, the most important priority for Uzbekistan is to attract American investments, modern technologies and advanced knowledge for the modernization of the economy, its transition to an innovative development model.
It was emphasized that the establishment of a business in Uzbekistan opens for US companies not only the markets of Central Asia and Afghanistan, but also the CIS countries, with which Uzbekistan has bilateral agreements on a free trade zone.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest took place.
