Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) - The 108th session of the International Labor Conference began its work in Geneva on 10 June. It will last until 21 June.
The conference is the main deliberative body of the ILO, making decisions about the work of the organization and the composition of its main committees and governing bodies.
This year, the organization created to protect the interests of workers and to discuss controversial issues in a trilateral format, the government-trade unions-workers, turned a hundred years.
According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), about 6,000 delegates representing governments, employers and workers from 187 ILO member states gathered to look for solutions to the problems and problems of the future workforce, as well as to celebrate the ILO century.
Uzbekistan is represented by a delegation consisting of Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Women's Committee T. Narbayeva, Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Sh. Kudbiyev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry A. Ikramov and Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions B. Mahmadaliev.
The agenda of the session includes a wide range of issues, including the future of the world of work, workplace violence, the application of labor standards and development cooperation. In addition, according to its results, it is planned to adopt the ILO Declaration of the Century, which will have to be a guide for the Organization in the transformation of the world of work.
The centenary session of the International Labor Conference, known as the “World Labor Parliament”, opened with the speech of G.Rayder, the ILO Director-General.
In his speech, the Director General noted that the “most profound and transformative” changes in the last 100 years are currently taking place in the world of work. He called on countries to take practical steps to ensure decent working conditions, social justice and peace.
On the first day of the ILC, the delegation of Uzbekistan also held a number of bilateral meetings.
In particular, during the negotiations with the head of the ILO unit S. Pedersen, the possibilities of employing representatives of our country in this organization were discussed.
At the meeting with the head of the regional office of the ILO for Europe and Central Asia M.F.Auer, an exchange of views was held on the prospects for more active involvement of Uzbekistan in the work of the governing bodies of the ILO.
The Minister of Labor of the Russian Federation, M. Topilin, substantively discussed issues of the practical implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the organized recruitment and involvement of citizens of Uzbekistan for temporary employment in the territory of the Russian Federation. The document was signed as part of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Moscow on 4-5 April 2017.
