NAPU and UPMA to train and certify personnel in the field of project management

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An official meeting of the leadership of the National Project Management Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the Chairman of the Board of the International Project Management Association (UPMA) Reinhard Wagner, who is also the honorary chairman of the Project Management Association of Germany, took place on 18 April 2019. The meeting was the next stage in the establishment of joint activities of NAPU and UPMA.
Wagner was acquainted with the current and planned Agency activities and large-scale reforms carried out in the country, during which issues of effective project management are of particular relevance. Mr. Wagner enthusiastically embraced comprehensive measures to reform the country’s economy and social life of the population, carried out in the country since 2017 under the guidance of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Particular attention was paid to reforms aimed at integrated planning, cost optimization, increasing quality control, the development of interdepartmental and interdepartmental cooperation, integration with business processes and changes in the surrounding world.
According to Reinhard Wagner: “It is difficult to overestimate the role of the National Project Management Agency, created on the initiative of the head of state in monitoring the implementation of reforms and investment programs, as well as in assisting in the high-quality and timely implementation of projects in Uzbekistan.”
The parties also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of training and advanced training of personnel in the field of project management, organization of the system of certification according to international standards, which will ensure the improvement of the quality of ongoing projects in Uzbekistan. The role of the newly created Project Management Association of Uzbekistan, which is aimed at promoting the project approach in the activities of organizations and certification of personnel, was particularly noted.
Following the meeting, specific areas of cooperation between the NAPU and UPMA were outlined.
The main objective of the International Project Management Association (UPMA) is to promote the development of project management competencies among professionals, project teams and organizations in all areas of creative activity on a global scale. The Association’s affiliate network consists of 72 developed countries.
Since 1995, UPMA has been developing its own 4-level certification system for project management specialists (Model 4 LC).
Uzbekistan became a member of the International Project Management Association on 30 March 2019, while our country joined the organization in record time, which once again confirms the effectiveness of measures to implement project management implemented in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
