Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 April 2019, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade hosted a meeting with the delegation of Finland led by Markku Keinänen, Deputy State Secretary for Foreign Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was devoted to building partnerships between the two countries. The head of the delegation noted that Uzbekistan, becoming the largest center for attracting investment and trade in the Central Asian region, is currently the subject of attention of the largest European companies. The reason for this was the ongoing economic reforms in the country, which opened borders for foreign capital, which, in turn, along with an extensive market and developed infrastructure, is the basis for the dynamic development of the economy.
The leaders of large Finnish companies in the field of IT, electronics, technological production, pharmaceuticals and agriculture, who were present at the meeting, also shared their expectations and plans for activities in the country. In particular, the Vice-President of Nokia Solutions expressed his willingness to join the Foreign Investors Council, a unique platform that allows for a direct dialogue between the government and existing and potential foreign investors.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation at the departmental level, with the close involvement of business representatives, prioritizing the creation of close cooperation between Finnish and Uzbek companies and the implementation of successful joint projects.
The leadership of the Ministry also welcomed the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Finland in Tashkent, which is an important step in speeding up the development of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
