The first Uzbek-Korean textile technopark to be launched

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) –– On 9 April 2019, a meeting of the leadership of the Uztekstilprom Association was held with a delegation of the Republic of Korea led by the Director of the Construction Department of the KITECH Institute, Mr. Li Zhongbum and the leadership of the general contracting organization IL-KWANG in the Textile Technopark building.
The meeting was also attended by the leadership and representatives of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry (TITLP).
Uzbekistan and South Korea are implementing a joint project for creation of Textile Technopark building. South Korean Government provided a grant for US$15 million to implement the project.
The facility is located in the center of the city of Tashkent, and today the improvement works and the installation of process equipment are being completed.
During the negotiations, issues of completion of construction works, as well as installation of process equipment and delivery on time were discussed.
Opportunities for further expansion of business relations with South Korean partners were discussed. Following the meeting, the parties expressed their determination to continue to make every effort to implement the agreements reached on building up mutual relations in the textile sphere.
The textile technopark will be engaged in the development and implementation of international educational and research programs of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, in particular, in the production of high value-added products: fabrics, garments and knitwear.
It should be noted that the technopark will develop technological know-how and conduct research in the field of materials science, dyeing and finishing production, new design of fabrics and clothing, as well as support the development of promising technological directions, including in the field of ICT, alternative energy sources.
The Korean side confirmed its intention to continue to provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of the textile technopark project. In particular, starting from 2020, it is planned to implement the TASK program, which involves the transfer of the most up-to-date "knowledge and technological know-how" in the textile industry with the constant participation of Korean specialists.
In addition, the Korean side will assist in equipping the Technopark with laboratory equipment for research and control in the field of textile safety.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue active participation in the implementation of projects with grants from the Government of the Republic of Korea “Official Development Assistance” (ODA) funds.
