Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 March 2019, Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan) chaired by the Russian Federation hosted its thirty-fourth meeting of the Council of the Regional Antiterrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS).

It was attended by delegations of the competent authorities of the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the SCO RATS Executive Committee.

The meeting approved the report of the Council of the SCO RATS to the Council of Heads of the SCO Member States on the activities of the SCO RATS in 2018, as well as the results of the work of the competent bodies of the SCO member states and the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS on the implementation of the Cooperation Program of the SCO member states in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2016-2018.

Information on implementation of decisions of the Council of the SCO RATS was reviewed. The work of the Joint Working Group of Experts of the Competent Authorities of the SCO Member States and Representatives of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS the development of proposals for the detection, prevention and suppression of the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes for 2017-2018 was appreciated.

Decisions were made to hold in 2019 a joint anti-terrorism exercise by the competent authorities of the SCO member states "Sary-Arka - Antiterror - 2019", the first stage of the joint border operation "Solidarity - 2019-2021", the seventh meeting of the heads of the border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states and training workshops for specialists of the competent authorities of the SCO member states on identifying and preventing the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes.

A positive evaluation of the activities of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS for the past period was given.

For his personal contribution to the development of the SCO RATS activities and the strengthening of interaction between the competent authorities of the SCO member states, he was awarded the title of “Honorary Representative of the SCO Member State in the SCO RATS Council” to the representative of the People’s Republic of China Li Wei and representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Tasnim Aslam, who completed the work in the Council SCO RATS.

The Council diploma and the memorial sign of the SCO RATS awarded a number of employees of the competent authorities of the SCO member states and officials of the SCO RATS Executive Committee.

Decisions on organizational, personnel and financial support for the activities of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS were taken.

An agreement was reached on holding the next meeting of the Council of the SCO RATS in September 2019 on the territory of the Russian Federation.
