Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, together with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized an agribusiness forum "Netherlands - Uzbekistan" and "B2B" with the business circles of the two countries on 12 March 2019.
The delegation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands led by the Ambassador (with residence in Moscow) Rene Jones-Bos included representatives of 45 leading Dutch companies in various sectors of agriculture, in particular the cultivation and processing of fruits and vegetables, potatoes, innovative facilitation systems, crop production, construction greenhouses, refrigeration equipment, growing cattle, gardening, growing fruit trees, horse breeding, sunscreens for modern greenhouses, poultry farming and others.
During the meeting, the delegation of the Netherlands got acquainted with the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to improve the investment climate, liberalize the economy, and ensure the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of entrepreneurs.
Prospects for further development of the Uzbek-Netherlands trade and economic cooperation were discussed between business circles of two countries in the "B2B" format, including an exchange of views on the intensification of partnerships between enterprises of Uzbekistan and the Netherlands.
It should be noted that the trade turnover for 2018 made up US$147.26 million, of which US$11.58 million is export, US$135.68 million are imports.
The structure of Uzbekistan’s exports to the Netherlands consists of: base metals, machinery and equipment, fruits and vegetables, inorganic chemicals, textiles, plastic products, etc. Chemical products, machinery and equipment, fruits and vegetables, pets, optical instruments are imported from the Netherlands to the Republic of Uzbekistan. , food products, etc.
About 47 enterprises with the participation of Dutch capital, including 30 – joint ventures, 17 with 100% Dutch capital operate in Uzbekistan. Representative offices of 9 companies of the Netherlands are accredited in the republic, which carry out activities in the food and light industries.
On March 14, the delegation plans to visit agricultural enterprises of Namangan region to demonstrate the potential and opportunities for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as to participate in the International Exhibition “AgroWorld-2019” in Tashkent.
