Over 10.88m people use mobile phones in Uzbekistan

Number of mobile subscribers in Uzbekistan comprised 10.882 million as of 1 October 2008, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies of Uzbekistan under the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information said on Friday, 10 October.
The number of subscribers grew by 6.65% or 679,203 in September. According to commission, the Uzbek mobile operators served about 10.203 million users as of 1 September 2008.
Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (Unzdunrobota, GSM standard), Beeline (Unitel, GSM standard), Ucell (Coscom, GSM standard), Perfectum Mobile (Rubicon Wireless Communication, CDMA standard) and Uzbektelecom Mobile (CDMA standard).
MTS-Uzbekistan has the largest number of subscribers. The company said on 6 October that it serves over 5 million subscribers. Unitel follows MTS-Uzbekistan with over 3 million users. Coscom said that over 2 million subscribers use its services as of 11 September 2008.
