Uzbekistan Airways grounds An-24 airplanes
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) is continuing a programme on replacement of old airplanes with new comfortable airliners.

The airline grounded all aircrafts of An-24 modification. The company stopped to execute flights with An-24 aircrafts from 15 January.

An-24 airplanes, which have been used for a long time in internal flights, now do not meet modern requirements of passenger service.

In connection with unification and modernization of fleet, the company will use comfortable aircrafts A320 and locally-made Il-114-100 planes.

As reported earlier, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari grounded Soviet-made Tu-154 aircrafts in early 2011.

Fleet of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari comprises of 34 aircrafts. Among them are ten Boeing (five Boeing 767-300 and five Boeing 757-200), three Airbus A310, ten Airbus A320, and three RJ-85 airplanes, as well as two freight airplanes А300-600F and six Il-114-100 planes.

Uzbekistan Airways also ordered four more Boeing-767 aircrafts and two Boeing-787 Dreamliner planes.

Currently, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari flies to 25 countries of the world. In 2011, the airline increase passenger transportation by 7.2% to 2.322 million people.
